HP to Acquire 3Com: How Will Cisco Respond, and How Will Your Business?
HP announced that it will acquire 3Com, a deal that moves HP further away from former close partner Cisco. And not too long ago, Cisco announced that it was entering the server blade market. All of this raises questions about continued interoperability among all three vendors' offerings. But will any of this affect computing networks at your business in 2010? If so, how? If not, why not?

It would be too early for this to impact our business, we use Cisco on the enterprise environment and Huawei on the Telecom part of our business. However, it would be interesting to see how this affects the industry as a whole over the next 3 to 5 years. Cisco's marketing strategy is based on their training, I estimate that over 80% of engineers in the networking field are Cisco certified or have some form of cisco training, this in itself is a marketing machine for Cisco. For HP to compete they need to change the dynamics of the network training environment which will be tough. Let's see what transpires in the coming months.
Even having Pro-Curve in the basket to offer, HP is not sucessful to gain the market share.
HP's channel policy will paly a important role, as there are no of up - downs are happening as far as HP India operations are concern.
