I think it's very important. People run the business. People metrics are important to understand effectiveness, trends and scalability. Problem solving, or opportunity finding, can be achieved through using people metrics from areas such as customer service, sales, IT, accounting, resellers, and technical support. Professionals who can take responsibility for a benchmark or goal with a people number, can really impact the business -- where the rubber hits the road. I hope I am not being too esoteric.
