Mac OS X vs. iOS 4 - collision or conversion?

I was reading a brief on Focus entitled, "The Apple Roadmap: What Steve Jobs doesn't want Microsoft to figure out" by Colin Bhowmik (http://www.focus.com/briefs/marketing/apple-roadmap-what-steve-jobs-doesnt-want-microsoft-figure/). It raises an interesting question about what's going to happen with Mac OS X given Apple's increasing focus and reliance on iOS. His conclusion is that Apple will certainly keep OS X but increase its integration with iOS. What do you think?

If I have a phone and/or a Wi-Fi-equipped handheld and/or a tablet that does almost everything I need or want to do, do I need a "desktop" operating system at all any more? Perhaps more game-changing, why would I bother running Mac OS X or any desktop OS any more, when the applications available for that OS can cost orders of magnitude more than the apps running on my "companion" devices, and those serve most of my needs well enough? From this perspective, the effects of iOS may extend far beyond questions about the future of OS X...
