Have you made or kept any social media resolutions?
All the talk about social media forecasts and New Year's resolutions has me wondering if folks have made any social media resolutions for themselves, with their work groups, and/or in their organizations.
Have you created any (new) social media goals?
Do you plan to start any (new) social media initiatives?
What do you want to do more of in 2012? What do you want to do less of?
I'm looking forward to hearing - and being inspired by - your ideas. Thanks!

Thanks for asking this question Courtney, definitely some good conversations to be had here!
There are two areas that I am really eager to dive into and continue to learn, develop, and help teach others in 2012. The first is continuing to understand the return on investment, as well as the return on influence. More specifically I am keen on helping organizations build tailored strategies around the social channels that their audience and market are occupying. As networks like Google+, Instagram, and Pinterest continue to grow and gain traction, how can brands leverage this to enrich the experience and relationship with their community.
The second area, and one which I believe is more powerful is the ability to create incredibly valuable connections and communities through social media. My goal here is to continue to have conversations and build relationships with people who have aligned passions and synergies. I believe the value of these types of global communities will continue to grow over the years.
Thank you again Courtney!
Cheers,

Great question, Courtney. With all the hoopla surrounding Google+ for brands, many more businesses will be considering Google+ as part of their social media planning, and my clients are in that boat. But, I think the most important resolutions for "social media 2012" will be spending more time evaluating the return on investment for social media efforts - comparing the amount of resources (both time and personnel) allocated toward social media activities with the conversion of leads to customers, and also evaluating which social media channels are best suited for a company's target market and customers/prospective customers. Not all sites/channels are the best fits for every business.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful responses, Tyrell and Debbie. I've included a link back to this discussion in a blog post that invites folks to share their social media goals for the year ahead, evaluate the progress they have made so far in keeping the resolutions they have made, and refocus their efforts to ensure their goals are realistic rather than idealistic. Here's a link to it:
