Mobile app Developers: What has been your experience with app sales volume in the Android market?

It was recently suggested to me by another developer that they are only receiving 1-10% of the sales volume of their $1 app in the Android market as they are in iTunes. Are you seeing a similar pattern in your app sales in the Android market? If so, Care to speculate as to why? Do you think it is a matter of market share, the infancy of the Android market, Android users strongly favoring free apps (compared to only 25% of iOS apps being free), or some other reason?

Typically Android users are not tech-savy and they are not natural targets for apps. Also, Android # is much lower than iPhones. But, a friend of mine said he will only develop for Android because it gives him most flexibility and he does not have to fear "Censoring" by Steve Jobs. Wait till the windows vs macs scenario plays out in mobile phone space. This time it will be android vs iphone and I suspect Android will eventually win.
