I need a business telephone system for my SMB.

I was trying to get away with just using cell phones & Google Voice, but it looks like I actually will need a system. What is available for a 5-person company? I am on a tight budget. Thanks.

Chad-
My name is Lee Horton and I own a Telecommunications Company in Florida. I would recommend the you look at the Freedom IQ VOIP Hosted PBX. It has great features such as email notification, dual ringing of your office phone and cell phone (you set the schedule), online management and many other features. You can both purchase or lease the phones which are made by Polycom, a reputable phone manufacturer. All you need is good bandwidth for your internet access. If you want a traditional phone system, the Panasonic TDA50 is a great little key system that also has the ability to utilize VOIP trunks. If you would like more details, please do not hesistate to give me a call.

For a small company, I would definitely recommend going with a Hosted VoIP solution.

The initial start up costs are going to be lower as will the cost to maintain the system, notice I did not say equipment.

The ongoing flexibility offered by a hosted solution should be the primary reason why you choose a telecommunications solution and telecom vendor. As with all new companies, the only thing you can really count on is change. The people, strategies, office locations etc will all probably change during your company's first few years. This fact alone tips the scale heavily in the favor of Hosted VoIP. Pricing should play a secondary role.

Hiya - If I'm honest, you can do it all with your cell phones. Here's an idea:

Calls go into an auto attendant (hosted)
Call flows are managed and options are put together
Once the caller chooses an option the call is then diverted straight to the appropriate cell phone.
The caller pays for the entire call, cutting back on your costs.

Done!

You can extend the system by including voicemail, voicemail2email, fax2email, toll free access etc.

I hope this helps.
