Digg v4 was a huge step in the wrong direction, unfortunately. It sounds like they got the message and will try to add back some of the core favorite features, but there is some serious damage done to that community.
Having said that, while it may never be what it once was, it's still hard to beat in terms of traffic and backlink yield for the time invested. Our most recent frontpage on the new Digg was about 80% off of the traffic we saw as recently as last month. Some of that is due to the "revolt", but a lot of that is due to the FUBAR user experience not creating the same firehose effect. Without a firehose to spray around the web, nobody is going to care.

Sure. If you can get an article Dugg on Digg then of course it will be beneficial, not to mention the backlinks you could get. Getting up there will prove to much more difficult though.
but...Digg made a huge mistake in that it's reliance on large blogging sites devalued it's brand as a place to get independent user content. This graphic is pretty interesting in regards to the change. http://www.pcworld.com/zoom?id=204571&page=1&zoomIdx=3
