OpenDNS vs. regular internet service providers?

OpenDNS claims to offer all the same features as your regular ISP. They even claim to have features like faster pages, typo corrections, and phishing protection. And the best feature is that it's free. Does anyone use OpenDNS? Is it truly free? Do you pay for extra features for your business? How do you like it compared to a regular internet service provider?

I've been using OpenDNS for several years, and I have used it both as a home user and for several small businesses.

First off, it is really free. Yes, they have Deluxe and Enterprise editions, but you can get get by with the Basic package for as long as you want: http://www.opendns.com/start/

It is better than what most ISPs will provide for you, and the few that will give you more will charge for it. Remember, this is just outbound DNS that you're providing. They are fast, reliable, and protect you from malicious sites. They even now have a FamilyShield filtering solution for home users.

OpenDNS is well worth it for your small business or home network, especially as it will prevent users from getting to many malicious site, regardless of what OS they are running.

I've recently started paying for the annual family plan, primarily because I want to continue supporting them, and I don't care for the ads.
