Payroll - Direct Deposit Feature?
For most payroll services, is direct deposit an included feature? I've been working with a local company to handle our payroll and they want to charge me a "direct deposit fee" for every employee that I have. Is this normal? Are there other service providers that will handle direct deposit for free? Please let me know.

I process payroll and we are charged a flat fee per payroll, bi-monthly. I was not in this position during contract negotiation, so I am not aware if there was a per person fee when we began using them.

That's unfortunate. Did you know or ask them about features before? It's really important to ask questions regarding features, tax filing, charges and references. Questions along the lines of :
What does your basic paycheck payroll service include?
If I use your tax filing service, do you cover the penalties and/or interest charges?
What is the cost for your service for one year, including year-end W-2 forms?

I have noticed that other payroll providers do charge for a direct deposit. However, WE DO NOT. Our fee schedule is weekly, bi-weekly and monthly. If you have 150 or less employees, we can help you process your payroll. We charge $35.95 bi-monthly with the first 5 ee's free.
