I decided long ago that due to the world's insatiable demand for energy, a job in that sector would likely always be in demand. With a few rare exceptions, I have seen strong demand in the energy sector for 20 years, and I expect that to continue (again with some rare exceptions) for the next 20 years. So yes, I believe I will still have a job.
The nature of the job may change, however. Someone producing energy from coal today may be producing it from biomass tomorrow, but much of the knowledge of producing and delivering the energy is transferable.
