Pros:Cons: Would you use your phone as your wallet? (Googe Wallet)

Google announced their wallet concept this week. If I could actually get rid of my wallet in it's entirety, this would be the beginning of something special.

I hate to say it, but I think the payment using cell phone is overhyped and is not such a huge improvement in our lives. That said, there will be a time when such a payment system and safe and easy to use, but I doubt that it will be much easier to use than a credit card is today. And if the battery in your phone is dead, so may be the great time out you planned.

When this capacity is ready for prime time, it will be only one of many ways of payment that will likely drive merchants nuts. Look how slow the US has been to come off the magnetic card technology in our credit cards. Old practices die hard.

Good point about the battery. That would be a bummer.
