Is repurposing content from a white paper a good way to start with content marketing?
I have taken a white paper and used it to make a "content packet" with related or rewritten information from the white paper to create blog posts, articles, and tweets. Is this a good beginning to mapping media and planning a route through engagement to customer?

My first response is YES! Good for you.
Here are a few tips for you to consider. What stage of the buying process is that information designed to address? What prospect questions does it answer?
If your prospect was in the early stages of trying to understand the problem your information is addressing, would they need a better setup to find this information useful? If so, develop that content.
After they read it, what questions would emerge to move them forward? Develop content for that.
And so on.
Repurposing your content in different formats can increase it's value to the ways in which different types of prospects/people engage - some like short, some like longer, etc. It also helps you to get found by more prospects because you're using more channels - assuming your prospects are also there.
Don't forget the calls to action. Think very carefully about what you want the prospect to do next and then make sure they know. Just be sure that it's a logical next step for them (not for you).
