Is SAAS BI going to be very domain specific?
When we are talking about SAAS BI, do we need to focus on the ones which are working on providing solutions in the specific domain like CRM, Health Care etc
Best Answer
I think it depends on what types of data your organization wants to analyze. For example, if you want to mix your CRM data with your web analytics and financial data, then an application that can deal with many types of data source may be more suitable for your needs. It's also important that the solution allows organizations to build on their existing data analysis investments by providing a solution that uses data stored in online and on-premise formats already being leveraged.

You bring up a good point Anup.
The different types of offerings discussed today have become broader in terms of their purpose. A few years ago the market seemed to be flooded with SaaS solutions that provided analytics on top of Salesforce, but not much else. Slowly this has changed to more robust offerings (i.e. Birst and Pivotlink as well as general BI vendors with cloud/SaaS offerings such as SAPor Pentaho) where organizations can get most, if not all, of their BI needs met through a SaaS provider.
Within the broader analytics market, many "domain specific" solutions such as within ERP, CRM, Health Care, etc. are developing/embedding analytics within their offerings. Whether this changes the BI landscape remains to be seen. But I do think that SaaS providers will continue to broaden their offerings to take into account specialized needs, while still providing broader BI capabilities.
