Should I sign up for Postage by Phone?

I’m going to be purchasing a postage meter in the next few weeks, and I’m wondering what the advantages are to using a Postage by Phone service along with the meter. Any thoughts?

I think it all depends on your exact requirements; for example, what is the volume and the type of mail that you will be sending out on a regular basis? You might figure out that you can get away with a basic postage meter from PB or even use a service like stamps.com....before anything else, make sure you clearly understand what are your needs.

Postage meters can be had today for as little as $13 per month (not including postage, of course). They will include a scale for up to either 2,3, or 5 pounds depending on model.

If you primarily have odd sized pieces to mail and therefore print a postage label, the PC version will be around the same speed as the postage meter. If you primarily do envelopes, the postage meter will zip them through more quickly than the PC solution.

PC postage systems can be used on a trial basis, while postage meters must be leased for 1 to 3 years (after a trial period). If things may change drastically in a few months, the PC option may be easier to cancel.

Postage by phone is a really great feature to add on, it can let you check online statements, real time account balance information, current and historical account activity information and online postage statements through Pay Purchase Power Online and Reserve Account Scheduled Pay. It's a great way to maximize the potential of your meter, for more information on them http://www.postagemetersforsmallbusiness.com/index.html I found this to be a great resource.
