What is a good web-based CRM for a small business?

I am looking for an online CRM database that will support event ticket sales. Would like to manage contacts, connect them with events that we create and generate reports off those events. I have been looking online for quite a while now and have seen a lot of sales CRM's out there, but nothing specifically for ticket sales - please help!

Kelly, there are many event management systems that have a lot of the functionality of CRM but without the sales funnel areas that it sounds like you don't need/require.

Here are some suggestions, all different price points, and none of which I sell/directly use but do recommend to people:

Memberclicks
Cvent
Eventzilla
Wild Apricot

there are also some great Wordpress plugins, if you have a Wordpress website, you can use the event information directly on your site and manage the registrations on the back-end with reporting.

You can also go the way of setting up your own forms that will also link to payment processing, using tools like Wufoo, etc.

Be sure to find something that integrates all of what you need into one system, don't go with multiple apps.

It's important to centralize all business functions into one system that makes it easier to jump from task to task and group tasks together. When using multiple different apps to do this, you'll end up with error-prone double entry, a discouraging 'syncing' process, and overall a more costly software bill. WORKetc integrates CRM, project management, and billing into one system - putting every aspect of business management into one web based app. This is greatly beneficial for CRM as the entire client lifecycle can be managed through one system, from the lead phase, through to working on projects for a client, through to invoicing and billing them.

WORKetc has a simple to use contact management module with integrated support tickets. Reporting goes business wide and gives real-time insight into sales, project productivity, and other concepts. The integration makes managing ticket sales, projects, toDos, events, and other items much quicker and easier overall.

My favorite is SalesNexus. If you're moving off of ACT! (like I was), you'll love the ACT! import functionality.

You didn't mention if you are a non-profit, but Patron Manager CRM has a system built on top of SF.com that is specific for nps and has what looks to be a very strong ticket management module already built in. Most of the other solution offered in this thread will require extensive customization to come anywhere near that level of depth.

Thanks to my friend Michael Medvin for telling me about this thread.

Idea2 is an online platform that we use to create custom applications. Usually within an hour, we can build exactly the screens you need - and leave out the screens you don't need. www.idea2.com - take a look!

You might also want to look at Salesforce.com. The major reason I bring it up is because you will have a feature-rich (more below) CRM out-of-the-box, and then you can build (or an admin/consultant can built it for you) a custom object that enables you to connect Events to the contacts in your CRM.

Some other feature to consider: Salesforce.com is completely cloud-based yet has a flexible yet comprehensive security and sharing model. It integrates (for free) with both Google Apps and Outlook, and with access to an incredibly robust application ecosystem (the AppExchange), you can also enable integration with countless other business applications (ie, Quickbooks).

Some other out-of-the box features include campaign management, centralized marketing collateral, sales pipeline visibility, and the newest (and most talked-about) feature, the social-network-on-top-of-your-database called Chatter.

(Full disclosure: I don't and have never worked at Salesforce, but I do help administer and build custom business solutions for companies who use Salesforce)

I really think that it depends upon a number of factors. Do you need to integrate with an email list management system (ActiveCampaign, ChimpMail?) Do you manage ongoing connections with these people after the events? Do you need to track invoicing and acceptance of payments? In general (Small Business?) I steer away from the larger heavier CRMS (salesforce, Sugar CRM etc) and look for smaller services that integrate together.
