Social media to email marketing?

Looking for a platform to convert social media followers into sales leads or email newsletter groups. You can message Twitter followers, and "Update" Facebook followers. These are impersonal and lack tracking.

Are you looking to find email addresses for Social media followers? Even if you were able to do so (although neither Facebook or Twitter will give out that information) I would not recommend emailing folks without their permission.

It's not quite true that Twitter and Facebook are less personal than email or less trackable. It's actually a lot less personal to get an unwanted email than a tweet from a total stranger.

However, if you wish to learn more about your social media followers and potentially get email address matches where available take a look at gist.com. There is also flowtown.com however this service will not offer the email component anymore as of Jan. 1 because of privacy concerns from Twitter and Facebook.

I would also look into how you can get email newsletter opt-ins willingly from your Facebook and Twitter followers. Have you tried an email collection drive/campaign for your social networks?

Check out sproutsocial.com. May not be exactly what you are looking for but has many social tools that will probably help.
Good luck!

I ran an experiment using a popular mail service's opt-in forms unique for facebook and twitter audience (Just name and email, using their double opt-in method). The results were less than spectacular. It is hard to monetize an audience if they won't opt-in. Any suggestions?

Thanks Eric. I am actually a big fan of social sprout. They continue to be the underdog to Seesmic, Hootsuite, and Tweetdeck, but I love the dashboard, contact, location services, and other features. Their dashboard is a great snapshot of our progress.

There is a way to export your facebook contacts to a csv list:

Only think this works for friends of a person, not 'likes' of a page however.

Hope it helps,

Jay. facebook now does let you download your personal page contacts to archive them, but not fan pages (company/campaign pages). buried 10 clicks into FB Insight is the option to "send an update" with additional options to segment by location, gender, age etc. Still I can not communicate 1-on-1 with my fans like I can with twitter DMs.
