As a software vendor: What do I need to do differently with my business processes when offering cloud service compared to traditional sw licensing?

Any experience with sw development processes such as scrum in developing for SaaS or PaaS products? How about IT Services? Does ITIL, Cobit, or others apply in the same way? What about certification? Do you know any new Standards, Certificates especially for cloud software?

As a SaaS provider, your organization is going to become (or need to become) a lot more transparent to your customers. The change management and incident management processes of a SaaS organization are of a greater concern to its customers than that of a traditional software products company, because the impact occurs in real-time.

I would say that even traditional software vendors should be employing some of these frameworks to improve their productivity and lower their business risk, but it is imperative that cloud/hosting vendors put these things into place because customers will be looking for them more readily.

In the cloud, these processes can be a business differentiator.

Thank you Andrew, I totally agree. I'm looking intensively on IT IL and plan to check COBIT for this. Do you see any Process or Management Frameworks specially for Cloud Computing coming up?
