Is there any free payroll software that can handle our needs?
I am starting a company with a friend and we just hired our first real employee. We want to properly handle payroll, but don't want to pay too much for the service, are there any free or close to free payroll software solutions we can use?

We do not have a free payroll software, but we do have a payroll product that is only $39/month and we process the payroll, pay and file the taxes, direct deposit, new hire reporting and provide w-2's at the end of the year. We do EVERYTHING and take the liability and it only costs $468/year. With a payroll software,you still have to print the checks or pay for the direct deposit, sign the checks, pay the tax deposits and file the tax forms. With this package, you do not have to do any of that. Just a thought for you to compare...please let me know if you have any questions. Donna (505) 604-2792.
I advise against using free or unsupported products for payroll. There are too many complexities, taxes that need to be paid and updates needed for changes in the law. I urge you to use a recongnized service that can pay your payroll taxes directly.
I disagree, talk to your bank. They often provide free payroll software in exchange for putting the transactions through them.

Intuit offers an inexpensive on-line solution. You can rely on them for accuracy and if you are a Costco member, there are additional incentives.
