Is there life after HR?
Do you believe in life after HR? What are your views on where HR professionals go if they choose to leave the profession? Are you considering taking such a leap yourself? Or have you already left HR, or do you know someone who has?

Michael,
For me I "transitioned" from human resources into management consulting. As a successful management consultant I was asked by a client to step in and manage his company as the opertational executive.
I went back into HR nominally at the executive level and was once again by another organization to assume full operational responsibility for a financial services organization with just under a billion dollars in assets.
The skills these executives cited when asking me to step up:
- creating a clear vision
- selecting and retaining exceptional talent
- aligning organizational and individual goals
- training and developing an exceptional "leadership cadre"
- creating and sustaining what we refer to as an "engaged" employment environment and brand.
I don't consider myself exceptional- I just never saw my role as compliance or "keeping the lid on". It was about aligning people and the organization.
So I guess my answer is - " Where do you want to take it?"
