I am assuming you are just getting started and want to do things right the first time. The first elements of integrating/creating a BI solution into your IT infrastructure is:

1. Decide concisely what you want to achieve by a business intelligence solution. This should be driven by the busines side.
2. Decide what data you will need, from which sources will it be integrated, and what the standard/common definitions of the data will be,which sources have common data, etc. You don't necessarily need to dump all data including the kitchen sink and toilet into the data warehouse/data mart. KNOW YOUR DATA before getting started.
3. Create a separate storage source for the data analytics warehouse. (some will disagree with this)
4. Architect the system around your desired goal.
5. Make sure Business is integrally involved.
6. Build a project plan
7. Go for it.

I would start with a small project first, just 1 division. Saas (software as a service) is the right move when testing out a solution. It’s fast implementation, scalable, limited risk and a monthly low cost, allows you to be in charge of how much data you would like to provide, how many divisions, which systems to integrate, all the while not purchasing any hardware or software. Not many solutions offer this, as a matter of fact they rather you fall into the trap of immediate in house purchase.
Testing out the solution is the best way to success. Finding a company that will provide you with a free POC with your current data is also key to understanding the role BI will play within your organization, whether it is worth it or not.
