The question is, what do you think unified communications is?
Is it having voice mail, sms, multiple e-mails from multiple devices in one central location? Is conferencing part of it, enabling multiple users to enter the conference via, phone, cell phone,chat or video phone?
How will you use it in your business? Is it worth paying for? will your employees buy into it?
Most VARS will sell what they have access to. Most "consultants" will do the same. Heck, they may not even know anything but what they were told by their friends or companies they worked with before.
If you work with a buy that is a Microsoft partner, do you think he will present an open source solution?
