What are the differences in marketing to B2B companies as opposed to B2C companies?

We work in advanced technology B2B, and one of the biggest differences is, in the B2B trade publications the target audience is actually searching for your product/service information...

Trade journals remain one of the top places where professionals first learn about the new products/services they need to do their jobs. They actually scan through the ads as a quick overview of what's new, and then they zero in on what pertains to them specifically.

That's a very different scenario than in B2C, where marketing messages are "in the way" and are not particularly appreciated. There, marketing has to work a lot harder to "get attention."
