What are some good women entrepreneurship resources?

I’m a woman and am in the process of developing my business plan. What are some good resources and online groups to get involved in? Is there any funding available specifically for female entrepreneurs?

Step 1: Start by figuring out your entrepreneurial DNA. That's a critical step to building the right business plan (http://www.bosiceo.com)

Step 2: Develop your paper napkin as a precursor to writing a business plan (http://www.joeabraham.com/46/starting-a-business-step-1/)

Step 3: Depending on the type of business you are starting, get into networking groups that focus in that market. In those groups you will find both mentors and potential investors.

Start with LinkedIn and search for entrepreneurial/startup groups. Also check meetup.com for entrepreneur meetups in your area. I wouldn't recommend chambers of commerce (95% of them are a waste of money and time). If you're lucky though, you may have a forward thinking chamber in your area. You can read about those qualification on my blog at JoeAbraham.com.

Most importantly, Whitney, you need to know that seed funding for startup businesses only come from you, your friends and family. You'll have to get your business off the ground and prove that it is viable before an outside (3rd party) investor will get involved. That includes most (if not all) funding programs.
