The challenge here is to make a good assessment of the value proposition and the risks that come along with it. There is a great appeal from a cost-perspective, but when you take InfoSec and compliance into account, it becomes clear that you need to have risk management analysis performed and a subsequent strategy from which you can make a well-informed decision.

When a company is ready to move to a virtual private cloud, one of the biggest challenges we've seen is to look at the physical infrastructure and then translate that into the virtual architecture. While there are many factors that influence this decision, some key parameters are: the utilization rate of physical and then ultimately how the virtual environment will be used; applications dependencies; dynamic provisioning and dynamic resource allocation.
There is also the security angle to consider. In a blog post, our VP of product management, Eric Bozich, talks about the pros and cons of outsourcing the security of your data.
