I have found there to be some extremely good providers of e-learning around. My own experience (that of others may differ) is that the small/medium size providers are better value for money than the bigger players who are locked into high volumes / high revenue business models and not always positioned to tailor their offerings to different company's needs without significantly increasing the cost.
There also are providers of classroom based training that allow you to take their courses remotely from any computer attached to the internet - effectively using collaboration tools with audio/video to help you feel a part of the training session as if you were there in person. This does at least eliminate the cost of traveling to the training venue though the base cost of the course is usually the same.
I believe e-Learning is a better model as it is typically cheaper than classroom based training and allows greater flexibility as to when you take training, You can also take the training in bite sized chunks to better suit your schedule or learning style.
