My observation is that SF recognizes the need to integrate the "people" into their collaborative offering... They have also watched how the Oracle's of the world aquire best of breed tools to fill in the white space of their platform. In the end the customer benefits from a deeper application service that helps the company better manage their business and in this case... People and socialization of internal business resources beyond CRM
