What are your thoughts on Splunk and their IPO announcement?

Seems like everyone has positive things to say about this company and their offering.

In thinking further about this, Jive, and now Splunk's IPOs seem to be pushing us more into the enterprise space. Is there a trend here? Or am I overthinking things? :)

I have positive things to say about their technology...

Splunk is a company that has a great technology that is powerful and easy to use. Their pricing model is highly annoying (IMO, of course), especially how they tie support to bandwidth, but it makes sense that they are trying to show the greatest possible profitability as they plan to go public.

As for whether or not we're heading into an enterprise IPO trend, I think we should look for a few more IPOs and see if the pattern emerges...

I've used their technology and it is in my opinion the best log management platform out there. As an event mangement tool, it also can compete with the big boys, but it takes a bit of work. As to the IPO, if it doesn't affect their current business model and good support structure I see it as allowing them to use that capital to create an even better product for the future.
