Caty: (1) be thorough - apply any change everywhere; (2) have intelligent reasons for making the change(s); (3) give your new approach, message, look, etc. time to serve their purpose.

I hope this helps.

My advice for RE-positioning is, be very careful...

If you really do have an established specific position in your market, say you are recognized as "the low-price guys" — it could be a major fiasco if you suddenly try to change and reposition yourself as "the high-quality premium brand" — just to give a simplistic example. That would confuse your market, destroy your credibility and shoot yourself in the foot.

However, many brands are nowhere near as established in a position as they think they are. Most actually have a gray or fuzzy positioning, which is no positioning at all. Which is actually a good thing if you're trying to move to a different position. (Just do it better this time!)

In any event, the key to positioning is DIFFERENTIATING yourself from the other guys. That's what ultimately gets you noticed, and respected, and positioned in your market.

Few marketers seem to know how to do differentiation marketing well. But if you do, you'll be miles ahead of everybody else.

What are your tips for repositioning your brand in the marketplace?-
1.Set and see your goals
2.Understand the Obstacles
3.Clear your mind of doubts and service what you are best at
4.Create an innovative and a positive vision of repositioning your brand product in the market
5.Embrace the challanges and stay focused
6.Stay on track towards goal achievements
7.Show the world you can do it by receiving great results from your marketshare in the area.

Also, if you look at it (add the first letter of each statement above and it equals(=) success. I thought this could be fearly simple and easy to follow in order to leverage and make a disant profit in a tough market to reposition a brand product.

1. Assess your competition
2. Compare Your products and services
3. Learn what they are focusing on
4. See where they are stronger and where they are weaker (or see where you are stronger or weaker)
5. Set your marketing goals accordingly (decide whether you want to go against them on the same level or take market share from what they are not focusing on)
6. Gather analytics
7. Evaluate analytics
8. Go back to step # 1 (it is a circular process)

You may want to take market share from their weak side first before going against them. Once you are satisfied with your market share, go back and do the same against their strong side.
