Office 2008 for the Mac supports sufficient interoperability with its modern Windows counterparts for most of the business situations I've seen, and I use a Mac in a Windows-dominated shop every business day. And of course, OpenOffice.org is free to download, and provides additional compatibility and interoperability options to Mac users in Windows-centric environments. And of course, there's also cloud-based alternatives such as Zoho Office and Google Docs and Apps. And with the iPad becoming available, and Mac Minis available in interesting and aggressively priced business-oriented configurations, I couldn't agree more with GN Brint. A Windows machine or Linux netbook may offer lower list prices, but the combination of ease of use, support and interoperability make Apple offerings worth serious consideration. I could give you several reasons why but I'll just hold it to one word... Apple ...
Go to an Apple store is possible... talk to a Genius ... tell him what you are doing and need done... A Mac machine when used to it's fullest potential has more ways to skin a cat than you will have knives for....
GN Brint, what about Apple compatibility with the Windows world? Is it good enough for most business? I'm often concerned about Microsoft's support for Mac-based Office. Maybe that's a non issue if you're also running Windows on the Mac. But then that starts really uping the price for your office computers.
Thanks for the answers to my question.
