What is a cost effective source for getting quality IVR recordings done?

With the IVR systems/applications being more customer oriented (versus 10 years ago) there are now multiple options for cost effectively getting quality IVR Prompts recorded AND uploaded into your system.

First and most economical option:
1) Do the recordings in-house with one of your own employees. All this takes is; Finding an employee that has a good voice to match the type of voice you want to have on your IVR (this is the biggest part of the endeavor), a laptop, USB Headset/Microphone, Audio Editing software (several are very good and available in the $30-60 range), the script of recording(s) you want done and a quiet place to do the recordings. From there you should be able to upload the final and "edited" recordings into the IVR system/application.

Past this level, you can get more professional and quality recordings performed based on the amount you want to pay and frequency you want to record additional recordings (i.e. holidays, special events, marketing/product changes, etc.). You can have recordings done by:
2) Your IVR partner, if they have that capability
3) A subscription service, that will provide you with very high level and professional recordings based on scripts you send them. There are several companies in the US that offer this type of service.

Hope this helps, generic as it is at this point, but without specific information on the type system you have, who manages it and number of recordings, time frame you have to complete and frequency of prompt changes or additions, it is difficult to point out what the Best and Most economical solution would be for your company. Although, it should be noted, if you have the ability to do this in house, you maximize your flexibility and significantly reduce your costs for this function.
