An CRM for use by a company should support multi-currency and multiple languages. Both of these things are really easy with Salesforce.com with a long list of languages and currencies supported
Additionally to multi-currency and multiple language support international business also need territory and partnership management. Sorry Julie, as I already mentioned once before, Salesforce.com completely fails in CEE area with language support.
We need to distinguish between international customers, CRM systems used by international companies, and international companies with foreign subsidiaries. Especially in the latter case having an integrated accounting system is critical to keeping information flow under control. I've used NetSuite for this purpose because of its integrated CRM and ERP, and its ability to manage and consolidate international subsidiaries.
Many CRM packages are localized so that sales and marketing professionals in several countries can consolidate their data. Accounting data is different.
In addition to currency, international customers may require additional tax modules to handle VAT and other regulations. An international company may have divisions and/or subsidiaries with warehouses in several countries which service sales territories in several countries. Subsidiaries need to be consolidated with proper handling of intercompany transfers. This is governed by FASB 52 rules. (Don't ask.)
