What do "Telemarketing Managers" do?

What are they in charge of? What would a typical day for them be like?

Eric,

It depends on your organizations definition of "telemarketing". Most organizations define telemarketing as either outbound sales or lead generation. Generally Telematketing Managers are responsible for the performance of these functions and the processes which support that performance. At the heart of their responsibility is the leadership and management of frontline telemarketers, including recruiting, training, orientation, and ongoing performance management.

There really is no such thing as a "typical" day for a Telemarketing Manager. Telemarketing is one of the only functional areas with the ability, and often the mandate, to make intraday changes to their business model based on feedback from a wide variety of constituents - external customers, internal customers, competitors, regulatory compliance, etc. Ideally, the majority (60%+) of the manager's time is spent providing, feedback, coaching and mentoring to the frontline.

Cheers,

William
