This sounds to me like Amazon is gearing up to move in PaaS and SaaS as well with an unique approach. Amazon SWF manages task execution dependencies, scheduling, and concurrency based on a developer’s application logic. The service stores tasks, reliably dispatches them to application components, tracks their progress, and keeps their latest state.
I guess, Amazon is targeting to automate and offer maximum self-service development platform to the developer community. Which will further speed up the development of apps on Cloud and help in automating to next level.
