Semiconductor technology has been improving by leaps and bounds, while the cost of energy has been rising steadily over the past years with no signs of slowing. LEDs offer huge energy savings.

Let's give an example; A standard 12V conventional halogen lamp is rated at ~50watts whereas an LED lamp with similar outputs is rated at ~4watts. That means that using a conventional lamp would consume more than 12x the energy as an LED lamp.

These 12V halogen lamps are commonly used in households as downlights. In an area with 4 downlights, imagine the potential reduction in energy consumption.

I see a vast market that is barely scratched. I only wish we had a client manufacturer interested in new product concepts in the field.
