What do you think is the scariest job in the United States?

A bomb squad technician? A high rise window washer? Something else? What job do you think has the scariest responsibilities?

In my mind I would still say being a coal miner has got to be the scariest job!

Did you see the trailer for "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol"? Extreme sports stars climb buildings; Tom Cruise is climbing up a 2700 foot tower. Painters on the Seattle "Space Needle" structure hang upside down at 900 feet high.

Interesting question. You asked about the "scariest" job vs. the most dangerous job. This implies you are inquiring about the jobs that prey most on the "fears" of people, vs. the jobs that are most likely to kill them. Our fears aren't necessarily based on rational reasoning. Just like many Californians are much more afraid of earthquakes than they are of driving in their cars - despite the fact that they are far more likely to be injured in a car accident vs. being injured in an earthquake.

The most dangerous job is working on a fishing boat - but I'd bet few people would think of fishing as a "scary" job.

I've read that the most dangerous job in the US is taxi driver. It takes the most dangerous part of a police officer's job, driving a car for hours on end, adds the unpredictability of giving rides to strangers and subtracts the firearm and bulletproof vest. Scary.

The incident was reported to have went on for some 10-15 minutes without anyone coming to the aid of the driver. Passengers reported that 6-8 men attacked the bus driver and this morning drivers throughout the city refused to come to work stating they were in fear for their safety as well.

Being a parent or stepparent. The main "job" responsibility is to prepare the child for adulthood (and not be a friend).

In my opinion, the primary concern for many parents is to be popular and well-liked by their kids instead of leading by (stellar) example. Thus, the status of the world today.
