Systems Integrators will tell you that an ERP implementation covering your needs can be completed in three months or so. I would guess that it will take 6 months or more depending on the sophistication of your operation today. The better the software fits your business "out of the box" (as purchased), the less time it will take to implement. Tier 2-type solutions like Infor products might go in faster than my guess above. A Microsoft Dynamics ERP product can get done in 3 - 6 months as well. An Oracle E-Business Suite or SAP All-in-One solution will be 6 months plus when all is said and done.

Obviously many variables impact the time necessary to deploy an ERP solution.
Specifically, the level and sophistication of the ERP solution purchased and the complexity of a company's business processes together directly impact the estimated timetable for implementation.

In a best case (and well planned out) scenario a mid-market ERP solution like Microsoft Dynamics GP typically takes six to twelve weeks from inception to completion. This allows adequate time to implement the financial applications;
specialty and customized needs will add to this considerably.

WIth aTier 1 solution like Oracle, you can typically expect implementation timeframes that well exceed 12 months. The complexity of this type of solution necessitates a more involved implementation process that is difficult to whittle down into a two to three month window.

Normally 2-4 months to be fully implemented. Certain phases are complete at 2 months but full roll out requires approx. 4 months. At least this is our experience with over 200 implementations of Microsoft Dynamics GP.
