What human resources organizations are you a part of?

What human resources professional organizations are you a part of, and why? I've been part of SHRM for awhile, but nothing else and I am looking for some fresh faces. I'd like to contribute to new discussions and read new material. What organizations would you recommend joining?

Jane,

You might want to look into HR People and Strategy it used to be known as Human Resources Planning Society and the website is www.hrps.org

Also, you might want to look into some business associations that are aligned with the industry you are working in today. This way you will have up to date information on your line of business and can make suggestions on HR programs and processes that best fit your company's business strategy.

If you are involved in training, you might consider ASTD. (American Society for Training and Development) If you are interested in OD work, look for a local chapter of ODN. Another possibility is to join the BLN (Business Leadership Network). This group works with employers to educate and promote hiring people with disabilities. You may also enjoy your local Chamber of Commerce.

Hi Jane,

A couple of great on-line resources are hr.com (free) and the Human Capital Institute ($199). They are both more oriented toward the education of HR professional, but add a lot of value.
