What are the best organizational tools to assign and manage tasks?

I am a newly appointed Advancement Services employee and need to find the best way to organize and monitor task/reporting projects assigned to my staff. I have researched Microsoft Project and OneNote, but am not sure if these are what I need to properly management all of our various tasks assigned. My main concerns are being able to view all projects my staff currently has assigned, keeping their progress current and being able to determine who can take on more assignments.

There definitely are better options out there to manage workflow and projects. With today's technology there is software that allows you to create and assign workflow and tasks that link directly to projects, as well as the whole Microsoft Suite. Gone are the days of living in Outlook and MS Project alone. With these options you can easily maintain tasks, assign automatic reminders and escalations. When one task is completed, it can notify the next person responsible for the next step and so on and so forth. They are very flexible and can be easily personalized to fit your current businesses flows. Very easy to work with, assist with compliance concerns and add a whole new level of efficiency. I currently work with two different ones; Synergy and Ion.

It seems like you are looking for a good project management tool. I would recommend you to try using TeamLab. We've been using it for a year in a small IT-company and find it quite comprehensive. The tool encompasses several online services for business. The project management feature of TeamLab allows you to track the amount of time spent on a particular project task by a concrete employee. TeamLab also enables you to generate reports on project issues, unsolved tasks, user activity and workload to determine who can take on more assignments. Make use of this link to find out more about the service - http://www.teamlab.com/project-management.aspx
