A press kit is a central resource that reporters, bloggers, and industry analysts can access for more information about your company, your product/services, and industry. This includes:
1) press releases
2) images of your executives, products, and customer implementations (if relevant)
3) infographics, videos and other rich media
4) company fact sheet - ideally one page regarding your company, key milestones and facts
5) executive bios
6) product fact sheets
7) links to surveys, white papers or research related to your company and industry
8) customer case studies or testimonials
9) previous press coverage

I haven't seen many print press kits anymore, and would recommend that these be saved on a USB/CD and easily accessible on your website.

Since printed press kits have been going the way of the typewriter, it is common for companies to feature online versions (or abbreviated versions) of their press kits in the "press rooms" (media sections) on their websites.

As a result, all of the great elements that Cece mentioned would be useful as PDF's in addition to the following online elements:
1) Screen shots of important pages on a company's website
2) Screen shots of specific (landing) pages on the company's website - depending on topic or target market (e.g., if a potential customer were part of a specific vertical market, and a specific part of the company's website had been created to address that market)
3) links to appropriate social media sites (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, as appropriate)
4) links to news about the company on other company's sites (it's always helpful for prospective customers to read about your company when other people are talking)
5) link to a "contact us" form or a customer lead request form
