The term Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) is used within the payment industry to describe an organization that is authorized to conduct security assessments of companies to verify their compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Companies need to go through a rigorous certification process in order to qualify as a QSA. PCI DSS is a set of security standards that credit card companies such as Visa and Mastercard require all businesses to implement.
