The BOOTP (Bootstrap Protocol) is protocol based on UDP/IP. It enables a booting host to self-configure without supervision. BOOTP is primarily used to notify a host of its IP address, the boot server host's IP address, and the addresses of default routers. It can also be used for other UDP/IP configurations.
