TAP or Telocator Alphanumeric Protocol is a paging protocol that was developed in the 1980s by the Telocator Paging Association, that is used for the purpose of transmitting up to a thousand 7-bit characters to an alphanumeric pager. This protocol can also be used for the purpose of forwarding binary data to RF-linked computers if the proper input is formatted and processed.
