Hi Jennifer - This is a terrific question and I was hoping I wouldn't be the first to comment because I wanted to see what other resources people came up with. I'll get the ball rolling with my three.
1. I've been a subscriber to Marketing Sherpa and found their information to be OUTSTANDING quality. As a marketing professional, I find their information extremely helpful and informative. It keeps me on top of what's happening.
My only observation with their information is that it's written at an intermediate or expert level. I think that a business owner or entrepreneur who doesn't have either experience or education in more academic areas of marketing might find it more difficult to adapt and apply to their business. This is just MY PERSONAL impression and I would love to hear from someone at Marketing Sherpa or who has actually used and adapted their info about their experience.
2. I also love Marketing Profs - which is a paid service as well. I think their information is a bit more accessible to the small business owner, entrepreneur or marketing person who may not have as much experience or training in marketing but has those responsibilities in their business or company. They also have a free membership level which might give you enough., I'd say it pays for itself if you're an active participant in what they offer - such as the webinars.
3. Another FREE resource and community I love is Small Business Trends (www.smallbiztrends.com). Full disclosure - I'm the book editor for them, but this came after YEARS of being an avid reader and participant in the community. Anita Campbell has an unyielding commitment to quality and credibility of information and the experts that write for her publication are exactly that. NOTHING gets published without her watchful eye on information quality and usefulness to the readership. It's also a casual community and you can feel free to contact anyone for a chat or some more detailed advice.
