What questions should I ask when looking for a hosting provider?

I want to get my company online, but am having a hard time weeding through all of the hosting providers out there. What are the most important issues I should consider when choosing a provider?

Benjamin -

When you say you're looking at getting your company online, are you referring to hosting of your website, or cloud computing services (hosting of your applications)?

If you looking at the hosting of your applications, I can certainly give you some guidelines as it pertains to hosting providers, and what separates good hosting providers from the not-so-great.

Right - more clearly define your goals and then some more specific technical requirements.

Then start looking for vendors who potentially have the services you need.

Then do your homework on their SLAa and references and reputation.

Then look at pricing...

Scalability, daily back up and hardware used are important for a hosting provider. It's also good if they offer free trials, to see if this actually fits your needs.
