The CFO will be one of the top two or three people in an organization that will have the most impact on a successful IPO. They will take the lead on all internal and external pieces of reporting and compliance, from the S-1 filing, to managing the audit, to overseeing any bridge accounting work, to Edgar-izing the data, to communicating with the investment community, to managing the investment bankers, to managing the attorneys, to coaching the CFO and board, to being ever-present during the tireless dog-and-pony-show presentations, and so much more. Having an outstanding CFO will increase investor confidence and, based on managing so many critical pieces of the puzzle that they oversee and fulfill, can help the company fetch a hiring offering price.

Thanks, Ken. Does it matter to bankers if the CFO has prior IPO experience? I imagine it especially helps, but does it hurt if the CFO doesn't have that experience?
