I am guessing you are referring to Service Level Agreements? IT groups are usually contracted, even within their own organizations, to provide an agreed level of service and uptime for their systems and application services. These requirements are often contracted in an SLA.

SLAs are something I would ask an IT candidate about in an interview. It's common IT industry vocabulary.

There is a thorough and exhaustive study of SLAs at:

SLAs for Information Security threats has to be arrived after mapping the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA) ratings of the application along with the particular threat in question.

For E.g. A severe rated application threat can have an SLA of couple of days. E.g. 3 days to a week for a high critical application (High values for each of the CIA parameters) while for an internal application the SLA duration can be higher.

It is always a better approach to arrive at an agreed upon rating after discussion within project stakeholders and Information Security consultants for every project.
