As I answered on today's call:

a) Don't forget to measure time & resource cost (in addition to direct financial cost) when figuring out the answers to these questions. Twitter in particular tends to be very time-intensive which causes companies to devote lower-cost resources (such as interns) to it - and then wonder why they don't see particularly good results.

b) In my experience Facebook advertising is good at delivering quantity but not particularly good at delivering quality - and I have used it across both B2B and B2C companies. Others' experience may vary but thought it worth mentioning here and on the call.
