What tools do you use to track "mentions" on social media platforms?
I would like to get a better example of how my social media messages are spreading. How do you track mentions of your company on the various social media sites?

Donna, There are dozens of tools available and I find new ones ever week. These are the ones I have become more familiar with and seem to provide information that by company can use.
Twitter: I use IceRocket and use the RSS feed for the report. I just "mark all as read" every week so I have a real number of @ replies for every week.

Social Mention is another site that gives some great information on their online exposure. http://socialmention.com/search?t=blogs&q=%22insideview%22&btnG=Search
If you are serious enough to get into an actual application, you might want to look at SM2. I've bee using the free product for a couple weeks, it has a learning curve but the data it brings back has given me more insight than anything else I have found to places online we can engage. http://sm2.techrigy.com/main/home.aspx
Hope this helps.
Hi Donna,
A lot of people tend to make this a much more difficult process than it needs to be. There are a million different tools out there and you just need to find one or two that you like that get the job done.
This is a good strategy to follow:
Find and measure your share of voice (mentions) and track where they are coming from, what is being said, and who is saying it. Then drill down and watch which areas grow from your efforts in each category.
Best Tools:
Free: Social Mention - Really great detail for a free tool, does not miss much if you know how to use it. Monitors across all channels, microblogs, forums etc.
Paid: Radian6 - Insanely powerful, may be too much unless you really have some chatter going on out there. It is easily the best tool for monitoring and measuring. Measures EVERYTHING with amazing detail.
