What is a typical supply chain management job like?

I'm in the job market and have recently come across a few supply chain management positions that look really interesting to me. I have experience in project management, so I'm wondering how difficult it would be to pick up supply chain management? What exactly do supply chain managers oversee? What would a typical day in the manufacturing industry be like? Thanks.
