What's the overall availability of supply chain management jobs?
I work in the operations department for a large firm, and they've offered to cover part of my tuition if I go back to school for a bit and receive a degree focused on supply chain management. If I were to take them up on their offer and receive such degree, what would my job prospects look like in the future? Are supply chain jobs few and far between? Does having a degree really give you a leg up in the industry? Any advice would be appreciated.

Gary,
Take the offer. The more education you have the better. I think the Supply Chain Management degree is valuable and the prospects for employment continue to look good. The SC is only getting more complex and will require "experts" to figure it out in the future as it continues to evolve.
I agree with Steve.
YES...your job prospects in SC look better with a degree, especially one in the Supply Chain field.
YES...at present, SC jobs are probably fewer and farther than they were before the economic downturn but take a look at indeed.com and key in Distribution Operations Manager or Supervisor or General Manager or Distribution Center Manager. There are hundreds of legitimate positions looking to be filled right now.
YES...that degree definitely gets you a leg up.
So run, don't walk, toward that tuition assistance and that degree.
